What I am saying is that for now, please use the Autoupdate as it might be needed if you use Edge or any other Office Desktop for Mac Apps. I rebooted my machine (Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 15G31) and re-opened Google Chrome version. Sorry for the typos, it was typed on a mobile device.

And while I believe that Google wouldn’t use this mechanism for unsavory purposes, I’m opposed to any hunk of software that downloads and installs things on my Mac without providing me with the option to carefully peruse what those things are. You mentioned in the first post you wanted a similar way to how to update Edge without Autoupdate but the same way as Chrome. Without donning the tin hat, I would note that Google’s record of respect for its users’ privacy is hardly unblemished.
